"Balloon Glow"

Here are some pictures of the girls at the "Balloon Glow". This is an event that Louisville has every year where almost 100 hot hair balloons come to town and show off. For the balloon glow they wait until it's dark and then blow up there balloons - they look pretty cool all glowing all together in the dark. We got there a couple of hours early and just played in the field - that's what these pictures are from. Laura really liked it when the balloons were finally lit up. Rachel was scared of the noise. That is really unlike both of them. Laura is usually the one to be scared easily and Rachel is usually the daring one. Is it me or does it look like Rachel is about to bop me in the head with that water bottle?

Our Apartment

Here is a picture of our apartment with the girls standing in front of it. Also, here are a couple of pictures of the girls in their daily activities. Laura is eating lunch. Rachel is buried in the pillows as she watches the Wiggles.

Psalm 40

I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.

Blessed is the man
who makes the LORD his trust,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.

Many, O LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done.
The things you planned for us
no one can recount to you;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare.

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but my ears you have pierced ;
burnt offerings and sin offerings
you did not require.

Then I said, "Here I am, I have come
it is written about me in the scroll.

I desire to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart."

The Duck Pond

Here are some pictures of the girls (the real reason anybody would really want to look at this blog) at the duck pond located in our apartment complex. They are always very excited about going to see the ducks. If Rachel even thinks she hears the word "duck" she runs for the door and yells "quack-quack, quack-quack". There is also a nice picture of the girls holding hands (spontaneously - believe it or not). They have been doing that on their own for the last few days! More news to follow - and hopefully more pictures of the girls.

Lunch With New Friends

Today Andrea, Laura, Rachel and I met our friend from Ephesus (pictured to the left), Benay White and she introduced us to her cousin and his family. Her cousin Josh is also going to Southern right now - we didn't know it but we have Systematic Theology together on Tuesday nights. All of our friends from our home church (that sounds so weird) have been awesome - supportive and encouraging. We really miss our church - our friends that have meant so much to us for the last few years! I hope we do not lose touch with them along the way. Thank you guys!

"Tom" Sawyer Park

We went to "Tom" Sawyer Park on Monday and walked around the nature trail. Laura and Rachel were really good - they walked most of the 1.25 miles of the nature trail by themselves. We didn't see many animals, just ants, birds and squirrels. We also saw some radio control airplanes - Rachel calls airplanes "AIRMAP". We will probably go back to this park, it was really nice. Here are a couple of pictures - one before we left to go to the park and on while we are on the nature trail.

(that's "Little" the lion by the way)

Brave! (Joshua 1:9)

(have you guys heard this song?)
It rocks my face off!

The gate is wide
The road is paved in moderation
The crowd is kind and quick to pull you in
Welcome to the middle ground
You're safe and sound and
Until now it's where I've been'

Cause it's been fear that ties me down to everything
But it's been love, Your love, that cuts the strings

So long status quo
I think I just let go
You make me want to be brave
The way it always was
Is no longer good enough
You make me want to be brave
Brave, brave

I am small
And I speak when I'm spoken to
But I am willing to risk it all
I say Your name
Just Your name and I'm ready to jump
Even ready to fall...

Why did I take this vow of compromise?
Why did I try to keep it all inside?

So long status quo
I think I just let go
You make me want to be brave
The way it always was Is no longer good enough
You make me want to be brave
Brave, brave

I've never known a fire that didn't begin with a flame
Every storm will start with just a drop of rain
But if you believe in me
That changes everything

So long, I'm gone

So long status quo
I think I just let go
You make me want to be brave
I wanna be brave
The way it always was Is no longer good enough
You make me want to be brave
Brave, brave
